He became very interested in Jousting in the late 1980's and eventually attended a two week school geared toward becoming a jouster.  Since then, he has jousted in Maryland, Florida, Tennessee, North Carolina,  Virginia and the International Championships in Colorado.
He rides his 2000 pound, 18 hand Percheron War Horse named "Hercules the Magnificent" which he has raised and trained since Hercules was six months old.  His goal is to bring Honor and Chivalry back into the original Sport of Kings, "The Tournament Joust".  He jousts under his actual family crest as Sir Ijams Von Ackahoff of the Rhineland.

Sir James hails from the state of Tennessee.   He is currently semi-retired after a career in Land Surveying that started in 1971.  It seems hard to remember a time when he was not on or around horses.  He never cared for just riding a horse "for the sake of riding", but riding a horse with the thought of the horse's role in history such as the great Warhorses rode by the Knights of old, or the cavalry horses used by the great Armies of the World was what really interested him
